La poligamia presso gli ebrei nel Medioevo [The Bible described monogamy as an ideal with polygamy as a concession to human frailty. The "Misnah" permitted polygamy for men who could fulfill thier duties to each wife. Christians often tolerated this in cases in which first wives did not conceive.
