Title:
Leonor Teles: Representations of a Portuguese Queen [When describing Oueen Leonor Teles, the chronicles Fernão Lopes (c.1380- c. 1459) depicts her as a worthy antagonist of his hero, King João I. Both good and bad qualities are attributed to Leonor, all of which help support João's succession and Portugese independence from Castile. Most notably the queen is seen as brave, especially when she defied her son-in-law, Juan I of Castile, in defense of her role as regent and for Portugese autonomy. Title note supplied by Feminae.].
