Title:
Sibylla borealis: Notes on the Structure of "Voluspá" [The author explores the figure of the "volva" in "Voluspá," an eddic poem. She is a seer who does magic and is modelled in part on the sibyl of antiquity, although there is some evidence for her earlier historical existence. The author argues that the volva's mixture of pagan and Christian elements is done deliberately to provide different levels of meaning for varied audiences. Title note supplied by Feminae.].
