The Broadview Book of Medieval Anecdotes. Edited by Richard Kay, compiler. Broadview Press, 1988. Pages 255 - 256.
Description:
A priest in Scotland was reprimanded by his bishop for having a concubine. The woman contrived to run into the bishop while carrying a basket of food. She explained that she was going to the bishop's sweetheart who had just had a baby, so that she could bring her comfort. "This pricked the bishop's conscience" to such a degree that he lifted the priest's suspension immediately.
