Title:
Garden of Earthly Delights detail: couple inside a bubble
Creator:
Bosch, Hieronymus, painter
Description:
A nude woman and man fondle each other within a crystal globe that sprouts from a vegetal form. Many of the figures in Bosch's "Garden of Earthly Delights" are visual plays on popular adages. The couple in the crystal globe might refer to the Flemish saying, "Happiness is like glass--broken quickly."
