Description:
The author takes a primarily quantitative look at disputes over women's property rights in chancery court. She analyzes 236 cases from the reigns of Henry VI and Edward IV. Results indicate that women identified as wives or widows had fewer challenges to their claims than did women as daughters, sisters,and nieces.
