Abstract:
At the end of the 14th century, the
Dialogo
of Catherine of Sienna expounds in a very elaborate literary construction the conversion of the the reasonable search for the divine into intelligent contemplation, the conversion of theological language into that of the comprehending soul, the conversion of the difficult language of the reason into a metaphorical one, understandable to everyone and fit to bring all men back to obedience to the Church. The method of knowledge which Catherine advises is that of the years.
