Title:
The Preacher as Women's Mentor [Although a preacher like the Dominican Observant Giovanni Dominici guided women's lives, his audience also influenced him. Dominici's sermons praised the patriarchal family and procreation, while decrying all extramarital sex. He also criticized girls who became nuns for the wrong reasons, including the lack of a suitable husband. Dominici shared the misogyny of his age, but he showed an intimate awareness of women's situations and concerns. Title note supplied by Feminae.]
