Incapacité féminine et rôle public à Byzance [The author argues that women's opportunities to bring suit and give testimony were limited in the sixth and seventh centuries but were more restricted in the ninth century (according to the law codes of Emperor Leo VI) with women allowed to testify only about "women's matters," e.g. virginity, birth, and other matters known only to women.
