  • Abstract: The technique of biphotonic absorptiometry has been applied to a sample of forty individuals from the Cognac-Saint-Martin cemetery so as to quantify the mineral content of bones. The survey was made on the calcanea, the necks of thigh bones and the lumbar vertebrae. The basic inaccuracy of age determination in ancient skeletons makes it difficult for us to draw positive conclusions as to the effects of post menopausal osteoporosis.
