  • Description: As an anchoress she is believed to have founded a women’s monastery at Tech Damnatan as well as a school (Co. Monaghan). Saint in the Irish tradition. Legends of Damnait and Dympna, saint of the city of Geel in Belgium, became intertwined in the later medieval period. Also known as Damnat, Damhnait, and Davnet.
