Abstract:
In the Holy Book, the Virgin Mary shows very definite features and a deep theological value. Here we consider the most relevant passages concerning Mary in the Koran as well as in some well-known exigetical works. She appears as a paradigmatic figure of the human condition related to the divine; she is endowed with all perfections which could reach the prophetic dignity. Quite far from the Christian mother of God, she belongs to the Koranic and Islamic world completely.
