  • Abstract: This article is an exploration of the spiritual teaching of Catherine of Genoa about whom little has been written in recent years. It attempts to synthesize her spirituality for the contemporary reader. Her own pilgrim's progress from self-love to pure love provides the framework for this exploration of her teaching. She experiences herself as formed out of love (creation), deformed by self-love (sin), reformed and transformed by pure love (grace and glory). A busy, active life as a married laywoman combines to make her a compelling commentator on the spiritual journey. [Reproduced with permission of the Titus Brandsma Institute (The Netherlands).
