Both illustrate "Cantiga" 105, the tale of the Maid of Arras who pledges her virginity to Mary. When her parents force her to marry, she suffers her husband's brutal sexual attacks and punishment from the Virgin Mary. Figure One shows attendants caring for the wounded woman. Figure Two depicts the woman with a diseased breast, praying to the Virgin. Table: One Table.
