Description:
Upper register: God the Father discovers Adam and Eve to have eaten the forbidden fruit. Adam assigns blame to Eve, who points to the woman-headed serpent on the ground. The couple is ejected from Eden and makes their living by spinning (Eve) and tilling the earth (Adam). Lower register: Christ circumcised in the Temple. The woman behind Mary carries two birds for sacrifice and Simeon, the high priest, passes Christ to Mary with shrouded hands; Slaughter of the Innocents; Mary nurses the Christ Child as the Holy Family pauses to eat during their return from Egypt.
