  • Abstract: In Peter Calò’s “Legendarium,” a large hagiographic collection written in Venice (XIVth century), is inserted a dossier on the saints Gurias, Samonas, and Abibos, martyred in the Syriac town of Edessa. This dossier is completed by a miracle performed by Samonas for Theodora, the wife of a priest: imprisoned by her husband’s creditors, she was liberated by the intervention of the saint. There is evidence that this miracle was written in Naples, where the cult of Edessan martyrs flourished in the Middle Ages, possibly in the IXth century.
