Abstract:
The article deals with the question why in the 15th 'Aventiure' Kriemhild tells Hagen where Siegfried is vulnerable. Could Kriemhild actually be interested in having Siegfried killed? In order to interpret this scene Kriemhild's and Siegfried's marriage is considered in the light of medieval judicial practice at the time of the conception of the 'Nibelungenlied'.
