Seven figures from paintings and manuscript illustrations. The first two figures show women reading (Mary of Burgundy with her book of hours and Mary Magdalene reading in a small panel painting by Rogier van der Weyden). Figures Ninety-Nine and One Hundred portray female owners of books of hours at their devotions alongside the Virgin Mary. Two figures illustrate animal marginalia in books of hours. Figure One-hundred-two, the martyrdom of St. Agatha, illustrates the female saints frequently represented in books of hours owned by women.
