Title:
St. Catherine of Siena Receiving the Stigmata
Creator:
Description:
According to her confessor, Raymond of Capua, Catherine of Siena received the stigmata after taking Communion during Mass. This image, part of a series of panels relating the saint's life, depicts Catherine having a vision of the crucified Christ. Her unmarked hands suggest that she has not yet received the stigmata, but that this image captures the moment immediately before the miracle occurs.
