Description:
In the foreground are Maria Baroncelli and Margherita, the wife and daughter of Tommaso Portinari, who commissioned this altarpiece. Maria and Margherita kneel in prayer before the Adoration scene (center panel, not pictured). Behind them are the women's sainted namesakes: St. Margaret standing on her attribute, the dragon, and Mary Magdalene holding her attribute, the ointment jar.
