Title:
Geoffrey Luttrell Prepares for Battle
Creator:
Description:
The accompanying image for Psalm 109 (“The Lord said to my Lord: Sit thou at my right hand: Until I make thy enemies thy footstool”). Sir Geoffrey Luttrell is mounted and wearing full armor. His wife, Agnes de Sutton, hands him his helmet, and his daughter-in-law, Beatrice le Scrope, holds his shield. Both women wear heraldric sideless surcoats displaying Geoffrey’s device, though only one half of Agnes’s surcoat displays the Luttrell heraldry.
