Abstract:
This chapter articulates and extends the relationship among eros, space, and visuality in the lyrics of the thirteenth-century devotional poet and polemicist Iacopone da Todi. Hyperbolic vision, vision beyond measure, exemplifies that intensification of the senses that Iacopone's participatory poetics at once spatially confines and sets loose.
