  • Description: The Rabbi Eleazar of Worms, known as the Perfumer (Roqeah) in reference to one of his texts, here commemorates his wife (Elegy 1) and his children (Elegy 2). They were killed when people attacked his house. He emphasizes his wife's piety, goodness, and support of scholarship. He praises his children's good qualities and bemoans his own sins which brought about their deaths.
