What war did not become: war did not become heroes. Taking off from the deck of an aircraft carrier may be heroic, but the pilot is an unseen force. Flying at 30,000 feet may be heroic, but the pilot is an unseen force. Even riding across the terrain in a personnel carrier or a tank makes the soldiers into unseen forces. And even when you can see them they are so enshrouded in their armor that they are not identifiable as persons. It is hard to make heroes of unseen persons.
