That was the story of NATO-Yugoslavia-Kosova. It was also the story of Russia-Chechnya. The Russians were intent on destroying the insurgents, and they were willing to destroy the whole society if necessary. That produced a flood of refugees. In Israel-Palestine there were few refugees, but there was much killing: bombs blowing up on buses and urban centers, attack helicopters destroying buildings, automobiles, wherever the insurgents might hide. Then it was back to refugees in Afghanistan. Refugees flooding across the border into Pakistan producing a million person humanitarian crisis.

And in all of these wars the global media were there showing us the anguish in the faces.
