One Figure. Figure One Frontispiece of "Encomium Emmae Reginae" (London, British Library Add. MS. 33241, fol. 1v.). The illustration is a royal donor portrait with Emma receiving the commissioned text from the monk-author. Her two sons, Harthacnut and Edward the Confessor, observe from the side. The frontispiece dates from 1040 to 1043, the brief period of dual rulership of Emma's two sons.
