  • Illustrations: Two figures. Figure One The eavesdropping narrator hides in the bushes while two women, one wearing a scarf and the other a garland, converse. It is the first of three illustrations for the "Minnerede" "Der Liebe Freude und Leid" presenting the women in full figure but showing just the male narrator's head to indicate eavesdropping (Heidelberg, Universitätsbibliothek, MS cpg 344, fol. 49v). Figure Two Two women stand together in conversation while the male eavesdropper is represented only by his head. From "Der Liebe Freude und Leid" (Heidelberg, Universitätsbibliothek, MS cpg 344, fol. 52r). The illustrator's differentiation of the women suggests that the woman with a wimple is married and the other with a garland is not yet married. This interpretation is not made explicit in the text.
  • Table: One table. The transmission of "Minnereden" featuring a male eavesdropper in relation to all "Minnereden." Those with a male eavesdropper are among the most popular, i.e. appearing in the largest number of surviving manuscripts.
