Title:
Il monachesimo femminile in Liguria dalle origini al XII secolo [Evidence for women's monasticism in Liguria is sparse before Lombard domination was established in the seventh century. Thereafter nobles can be found establishing monasteries for women. By the thirteenth century Genoa both had its own monasteries and competed for control of other houses with local nobles. Small Benedictine houses were eclipsed eventually by new orders like the Cistercians].
