Title : Reopening the Case: Machaut’s “Jugement” Poems as a Source in Christine de Pizan [The author addresses the relationship between Christine’s debate poems and Guillaume Machaut’s “Judgment” poems (also called “dits”). Christine was highly indebted to a French lyric tradition which includes Machaut, but was skeptical of the misogynist content in his writings; thus, her poems transform this literary tradition through female speakers or viewpoints.
