The jurist Baldus de Ubaldis was asked to advise an appellate judge in the case of a man seeking the dowry of a girl with whom he contracted but did not consummate marriage. Nonetheless, the judge in Venice ruled against the validity of the marriage, and Maddalena remained a nun.
