When she shunned the advances of a Roman prefect, she was denounced as a Christian and imprisoned While in prison, Satan appears to Marina and also attemps to seduce her. In response Marina beats him with an iron rod and then binds him with the sign of the cross. Ultimately Marina is beheaded for not sacrificing to the pagan gods. Here Marina holds a martyr's cross in one hand while raising the other in address.
